About Us

Tolou’s Lodge was established on the 9th of May 1998

Louwrens Schrader and Lourens Cornelissen decided to establish the lodge due to the increase in tourism in Namibia in 1996.

A suitable location was sought on the C27 route between Luderitz and Sesriem, the priority was it had to offer beautiful views of the Namib and spectacular sunsets.

Since the two Lourens’s (two Lou’s) were the ones who established the lodge, the name Tolou’s Lodge was created.

In 1997 during the building of the lodge, Jan Cornelissen, Marie Cornelissen, Piet Vorster and Sandra Vorster joined them in their new venture.

The first guests at the lodge were a tour group from African Eagle.

Jan Cornelissen became manager of the lodge and held this position from 1998 to 2018.

Tolou’s Lodge is a popular place to stay for travelers on their way to visit Luderitz, Sesriem, Duwisib Castle and Sossusvlei.
